I Sent My Stepmother on a 2,000-Mile Chase

My stepmother was so obsessed with tracking my location that she secretly sewed an Apple AirTag into the lining of my winter coat.

My stepmother was so obsessed with tracking my location that she secretly sewed an Apple AirTag into the lining of my winter coat. I am 20 years old. I found out because my iPhone started giving me those "Unknown Accessory Detected" alerts every time I walked to my college campus. When I finally cut the fabric open and found it, I didn't confront her. I wanted to play a game.
I took the AirTag, drove out to the industrial part of town, and snuck onto a cargo train yard. I dropped the AirTag inside a metal shipping container bound for the middle of nowhere in Montana.
For the last three days, my dad has been blowing up my phone frantically asking why I’m "living in a warehouse in the mountains." My stepmother apparently had a full mental breakdown and called the local sheriff thinking I was kidnapped. I’m currently sitting in my dorm eating pizza, refusing to answer their calls, and watching the tracker slowly move across the country. Best weekend ever.
