Finished it in an hour. Thought about it for days.
I picked it up expecting something I could skim. I couldn't skim it. There's something in the way it holds the misunderstanding that kept me turning pages even though I could see where it was going. When it resolved, I sat there for a while. A proper small masterpiece.
Cried quietly and felt better for it
I started reading while waiting for a train and missed my stop. That's the review. It's a story about people saving each other in ways no one notices, which is exactly the kind of story I needed this week.

It never shouts. It doesn't have to. The slow reveal of what those calls actually mean is so well handled — I kept bracing for a twist that never came, and somehow the truth was more affecting than any twist would have been.
Lovely — wished it were longer
I read it in one sitting and immediately wanted fifty more pages with these characters. That's not a criticism, that's greed — this is a story that earns your attachment and then ends exactly when it should. I'm just not ready to leave.
